What will your job be

As an Associate Scientist Biochemistry you will be active within a multidisciplinary team working hands-on with both routine sample analysis as well as more exploratory settings. Other responsibilities include:

  • Designing, executing biochemical and biophysical experiments, and analyzing biochemical and biophysical data
  • Performing a broad range of techniques including: UV-VIS, GC, FTIR, H/UPLC, LC-MS electrophoresis, Octet and ELISA
  • Instrument maintenance and calibration
  • Troubleshooting and flagging inconsistencies
  • Writing data reports and oral presentations in various settings.

What are we looking for

For the position of Associate Scientist Biochemistry we are looking for a science minded candidate with both theoretical knowledge and experimental experience. Further you recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • An HBO/MSc degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, biophysics and/or protein chemistry
  • Proven work or internship experience with techniques such as UV-VIS, HPLC, GC, LC-MS or protein purification techniques
  • Experience with GMP/ISO are considered highly advantageous
  • Strong communication skills and eager to learn and able to work both independent and in a team
  • Hands-on experience with multiple of the formentioned techniques and/or: fluorescence and circular dichroism, multi-angle and dynamic light scattering, capillary isoelectric focusing, atomic force and/or electron microscopy
  • You speak and write fluently Dutch and English

  • Salary indication from €3100,- gross per month based on a fulltime position
  • Fulltime position (40 hours/week), 32 hours/week is negotiable

Where will you work

Large pharmaceutical company based in Leiden. This department is part of the analytical development and responsible for a broad range of activities towards biophysical and analytical vaccine characterization.
